Expressive Sounds | Wellbeing

Expressive Sounds is a creative company that uses music, singing and song writing to address and enhance emotional well-being within schools and the general community.

We provide an opportunity to come together and express thoughts and feelings through song, as well as build confidence in using the voice and learning vocal techniques. We work with groups of all ages and abilities with an array of workshops and programmes to offer.

We collaborate with Community Interest Companies (CIC), charities, musicians and other creative professionals to provide an enriched experience for all who take part.

Welcome to Expressive Sounds!! We are all about boosting your well-being through music, singing, spoken word and songwriting within schools and the general community. Our diverse sessions offering 1 day workshops and 6 week programmes offer a platform for expression and vocal confidence building, catering to all ages and abilities. We also team up with musicians and creative professionals to enhance your experience even more.

Expressive Sounds are all about enhancing your wellbeing through music, singing, spoken word and songwriting. Our sessions are not just about learning; they are about expressing!

Our diverse 1 day workshops and 6 week programmes offer a platform for expression and vocal confidence building, catering to all ages and abilities. We also team up with musicians, creative and holistic professionals to enrich your experience even further.

During most sessions, the group also gets the chance to write a song together, record it and keep a digital copy to treasure.

Pre-school (2-5 years old).

Melody Makers:

Primary and secondary school (6-16 years old).

My Voice (girls):

Empowering young women (7-17 years old).

Big Voices, Little Voices:

Choir for parents and children of all ages.

Singing for Sanity (18+):

Adult community choir.

My Voice (women 18+):

Focuses on Female empowerment.

We are also your go-to partner for memorable performances, from Christmas Plays to Summer Concerts.

Meet the Team

Founder and Tutor

Shea Matthews

Shea is a professional singer/songwriter who has written and performed in the music industry for over 20 years.

Throughout this time, Shea has also had an appreciable amount of experience working with young people and children. In particular those with an array of special needs ranging from autism, profound & multiple learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and social emotional and behavioural disorders.

Shea has recently been ignited by a passion to not only perform her talents, but to teach them, and the many lessons she’s learnt on her journey through vocal coaching and mentoring.

As co-founder of Expressive Sounds, Shea invites all types of people to benefit not only from the therapeutic effects that singing and music can provide, but also the joy that creativity and learning to use your voice can bring.

Founder and Tutor

Hannah Beagley

Hannah Beagley is an actor and singer who has worked within theatre and music across the UK and abroad.

As well as being a performer, Hannah has experience in music composition and arrangement for theatre productions, projects and festivals, and has worked on youth programmes and lead choirs within Europe.

Hannah has a degree in criminal justice and probation studies, and has worked as a probation officer in adult services, courts, victim liaison and youth offending.

Hannah is the co-founder of Expressive Sounds and is excited to be able to use the skills she has acquired over her career to help others create something powerful and unique through music, whilst enhancing their wellbeing.
